My daughter Made $170 from Her Mobile Beauty Saloon for The First Time!

I have come to realize the importance of preparing children with beautiful skills for them to become useful for themselves and the community at large. If you are a mother reading this, try to guide your children to engage in skills you think will be beneficial to them in the future.

My oldest daughter was 4 years old while her sister was 2 when l began to teach her how to make puff-puff with the colored rubber bands using her sister for practice. So, she started with her sister’s hair and now that she is a grown-up teenager, she knows it more than I do. She does her hair herself. The hair she usually makes for me will cost me $60 to make at the beauty salon.

Anything we do intentionally or unintentionally has its advantages. So, it’s important to always be creative and engage our children to be proactive as well. I am sure they will appreciate us when they grow up. May Allah protect her and her siblings. May He make our children the coolness of our eyes. I wanted to write this yesterday, but l couldn’t make it. I will also follow up with what I introduced to Dr. Sumayyah tomorrow,  ln shaa Allah! Perhaps, it will benefit you too. Barakhallahu Feekum!!!

Be Happy When Your Teachings Are Impactful

While leaving the house yesterday, l instructed the kids to record a 3-minute audio lecture after Zuhr which they did. While listening to the audio, l was wowed, and at the same time laughing. I laughed because some of them gave a lecture on what l usually corrected in them. I am still laughing writing this. And that’s especially Dr. Sumayyah’s lecture. Oh my! Doctoooor!!!

I was extremely happy to listen to the first audio where my oldest daughter spoke on charity backing it up with a verse in the Qu’ran and hadith.  I became more pleased when my second daughter spoke about the Bani Israel while reciting the Qur’an to back up her claims. She went ahead to mention the importance of not hiding the truth from people.

I wanted to share this with you yesterday and have you try the experience l got from each of the kids. You can do the same with your kids. It feels good listening to them. It’s funny, and at the same time, a kind of way of preparing them for the future.  May Allah make them the coolness of our eyes.

My Son Spent Half of His Adulthood in Prison

The truth is the fact that when a woman gives birth to a new baby, the excitement that follows the birth when it is said to be a boy has no boundaries. That doesn’t mean most parents do not welcome their female babies with joy and affection. I am just been real here. There are households where parents are looking to have a baby girl which is yet to happen ditto to having boys. We pray that Allah answers everyone’s prayers.

I was having a conversation with a man who has been in marriage for forty-five years and it got to a point that l asked about his children and how he was able to manage and sustain his marriage for those beautiful years. He told me how successful his two daughters are, and sadly, he mentioned his son in the statement: “My son spent half of his adulthood in prison. He didn’t listen to me. He won’t listen to me.”

The truth is, l was sad hearing such a statement from him. But l do not want to be too inquisitive. So, l said, boys are tough to raise. I only got one. But l have my children enrolled in a private Islamic School and that helped us a lot. l saw that his eyes were red after telling me where his son was. But l immediately shifted to how he was able to sustain his marriage for 45 years. A story for another time.

It may be hard for some of us. But, l have experienced the huge advantages of raising children, especially in this type of environment we live in, in an Islamic School. Perhaps, you do not know the blessing of not having your children in prison. I encourage us to invest in the lives of our children. The benefits are more than the money spent. May Allah make our children the coolness of our eyes.

Patience

The Patience of Asiyah

When l think of the Palestinians, l see in them what is perseverance, steadfastness, bravery, and pure faith in Allah. The women and children of Palestine have proved to us what eeman does to the one who upholds it firmly and wholeheartedly. I have seen strong devotion in the children and women, and that really and truly made me proud.

We have witnessed how some of our brethren behave when calamity befalls them. It is on this street that we saw women who committed suicide due to a test from Allah. Yet, Qu’ran tells us the trials and tribulations our predecessors went through and how they were able to scale through. If you can stand firm when trials strike you, you are a hero. You are worthy of emulation.

The patience, perseverance, and story of our mother Asiyah (May Allah be pleased with her) is a great one that can’t ever be forgotten in the history of Islam. This is a woman who was confined and oppressed by her husband. Who would have believed any man would behave cruelly to his wife?  This is why we advocate for resilience in the face of adversity. And that’s exactly what the Palestinian women and children are facing right now- being deprived of food, and water, and murdered on their land as evidenced by all the videos we saw online. We can only be grateful for their strong eeman in Allah.

When Fir’aun ordered that “Asiyah’ be chained to the ground, she wouldn’t denounce her faith. She was bold, brave, and confident on the basis that, Allah keeps a watchful eye on her and there is no true salvation except in Islam. While she was cruelly whipped and tortured, she didn’t give up.  She was shaded by the Angels, and the more she was tortured, the more her faith in Allah grew. What a strong woman! If you happen to find yourself in a similar shoe, as the Palestinians are right now, it’s important to hold onto your faith and remember the struggle and patience of Asiyah in the hand of the tyrant Fri’aun. Indeed, the affairs of this world are nothing but temporary.  May Allah come to our brethren’s aid.

Caring mother

A Letter to Mothers

Dear Mothers,

The first time my first daughter made Jolof rice was on Eid day.  I was far away in Saudi Arabia answering the call of The Lord of the Majestic throne (Allah). And the second time was far better and splendid. I still cook for them, but they cook and know how to cook. You can’t be Majeedah’s daughter and be useless. No! I have promised to raise a better generation of children. This isn’t bragging – It’s a must. This is because l know l will be accountable for the trust that is put in my care.

I am pleading with all mothers to raise their sons and daughters pretty well. I do not want my son to marry a lazy, dirty, unorganized woman. This is why l haven’t left him alone to be dirty as well. I have always taught him what is cleanliness, leadership, and accountability. I have taught him how to clean, and make food for his siblings. I am still working on him. I wouldn’t stop. I told him a day would come when your wife would be at the hospital and you have to be home to cook for your children before the arrival of your new baby.

My definition of a productive Muslim isn’t just about being a Hafiz of the Q’uran. It also engulfs so many things including your character, mannerisms, cleanliness, and being responsible and accountable. Do not be tired of raising better children even if it has to come to sacrificing your sleep.  I am still working on my children and may Allah assist us in nurturing them well.

Marriage and care

Put Others in Your Shoes!

Some of the things that happen in marriage would have been prevented if we put others in our shoes – If we can simply think of our siblings. Any man who plans to divorce a woman shortly after (nikkah) should put her sister in the same shoes. How would you feel if someone sent your sister parking because she has a small b o. b s? There should be other things such a sister will have that will make her unique in her way. Perhaps, such questioning should be included when making inquiries to avoid stories that touch. I am just thinking of how gross it may sound. Most sisters will be naturally shy when it comes to that.

While we advise our sisters to avoid being deceitful in their appearance, our believing men should also realize the fact that it may be hard for a woman to tell the world how weak the husband performs when it comes to intimacy. Many women tend to work with their husbands to find a lasting solution to such a problem. That’s just an example of what it means to be tolerant of some things. Well, it’s is called marriage. You may not be blamed for satisfying your wishes. Please, be mindful of Allah, and put your sister in the same shoes before making a decision.

In all sincerity, except if a woman is very bad, as in, very bad in deen and character, issues such as small b. u .t . t and small this and that can still be managed. Let’s always put the fear of Allah in all that we do. And especially in our marriages. Sorry, it’s just an opinion. It may not sound right to you! May Allah ease the affairs of our homes.

About me

What Else Can You Call Umm Sumayyah Mai?

I have added ‘Amazing’ to my name. This name was given to me by a patient whom l worked with for two days. So, you can call me “Amazing” and l will be proud to answer you by that name!

Why the name?

I gave an abdominal injection of an anticoagulant medication on the first-day l worked with her, and she didn’t feel any pain. She was scared before the injection, and l promised to be soft on her. Alhamdulillah!  She didn’t feel any pain, and she was happy.  So, she said: “Are you coming back, l want you again. You are amazing. That’s what l will be calling you.”

So, upon the arrival of her family yesterday, she narrated the story to them.  And she told them she had given me the name “Amazing” since the day before. We all busted laughing.  She was discharged home without any distress.

Beyond Love

What is Beyond Love?

Marriage is beyond love. Beyond love are sacrifices, piety, and forbearance. It is respect, and care you show to the one you love. The way you treat the one you claimed you love and how their problems become yours.

Love indeed exists in different shades and volumes, but the connections that thrive in the relationship are of great importance. Love can become lost, fade off, or grow and evolve.

Love isn’t just about being in love with a partner, it is more about loving them the way they are. It is more of appreciating them and choosing to love them as the marriage grows. It is more of letting go of your frustration and pains. Marriage comes with mutual understanding and interest. So, ensure you do your best first.

There are days you will wish to call it a day and move on. This is because you are probably hurt by and or simply because you feel not interested again. So, take with you, sincerity and patience. Take with your empathy and compassion. Do not run away from your problems. Trials will come. But how you handle it will determine the success of your marriage. Again, do not compare your marriage with that of others, and do not seek to leave your marriage without care.

Marriage is complex thing

Marriage is a Complex Thing

It’s on this platform that couples who had vowed not to ever have anything to do with one another announce the birth of their precious baby. Marriage is a complex thing. Marriage is LOVE. The SWEET love, yet, maybe SOUR at some point. When an issue arises in your marriage, do never close all doors. Do never think you may not be united again. Seek help when necessary and know from whom that help is sought. The truth is, if you are the one who is being consulted, be JUST, be SINCERE, and be TRUTHFUL between both parties.

You must be SMART and play safe between the both of them. Listen, and do not inflict more harm. Try not to BLAME, but correct and advise sincerely. Those who have helped couples resolve their unending issues are GOD-SENT Angels. Once the issue is resolved, they will never forget your input. So, let’s all be there for one another.

Perhaps you are going through hell while reading this update. You are emotionally traumatized, physically wrecked, and psychologically UNSTABLE. Please, seek help ASAP. May Allah ease your worries.

Sins

The Evil is Becoming Overwhelming

There is no doubt that every single one of us are sinner behind closed doors. We are people who sin and sometimes cross our Islamic boundaries.  Yes, we have for many times wronged our souls. If there is something l wish l didn’t do, it’s to sin against Allah, carelessly.

The evil in the world is becoming overwhelming and l am more scared of the consequences. Indeed, the end time is becoming more nearer. I saw a video of a woman with four children and a negative DNA result flying over the internet, and l said to myself, women can be very wicked.  Yes, l am a woman. And l have said many times that l fear women the most on this earth.  If you have suffered through women like yourself, you will understand more importantly who our women are.

It makes me wonder how unfaithful women can be. How wicked they had become. So, l remembers the hadith of the Prophet about Yajuj & Majuj, and when evil becomes overwhelming on the land.

The Prophet entered upon his wife Zaynab bint Jahsh in an agitated state one day, and said, “La ilaha ill-Allah, woe to the Arabs from an evil that has approached! Today a hole like this has been opened in the barrier of Yajuj and Majuj,” and he made a circle with his thumb and forefinger. Zaynab bint Jahsh said: “I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, will we be destroyed even though there are righteous people among us?’ He said, ‘Yes if evil becomes overwhelming.’” (Reported by al-Bukhari, 3097). Aren’t we approaching it day by day?  So many evils we see and hear on the Internet. The case of a father impregnating his daughter may not be ignored. What can be more evil than that? Do men now need to do DNA on their children?

This is one thing Islam warned against. That “brother-in-law is death.” Islam also encourages us to be firm upon the deen. A God-fearing woman wouldn’t try to seek the wrath of Allah by displeasing him in this manner. So, she is careful and fearful -faithful and submissive to Allah and her husband. She wouldn’t take the path of destruction as thus many women are taking in our contemporary world. May Allah protect our women and may He ease the affairs of our men.
