Ramadān: Majeedah Prays with Humility

Dear Allah,

As the blessed month of Ramadan approaches, I come to You with humility and gratitude. I pray that You accept my fasting, prayers, and good deeds.

Ya Allah, grant me the strength and willpower to fast with sincerity and devotion. Help me to awaken for Tahajjud and to perform my prayers with concentration and focus.

Guide me to recite the Quran with understanding and reflection. Grant me the wisdom to apply its teachings in my daily life.

Ya Allah, soften my heart and fill it with compassion, mercy, and love. Help me to forgive those who have wronged me and to seek forgiveness from those I have wronged.

Protect me from the whispers of Shaytan and the temptations of this world. Grant me the ability to control my desires and to seek Your pleasure above all else.

Ya Allah, I pray that this Ramadan brings me closer to You and helps me to become a better version of myself. Grant me Your mercy, forgiveness, and guidance.

Allahumma ballighna Ramadan (O Allah, let us reach Ramadan)

Start Your Day Distancing Yourself from Your Phone

One of the valuable lessons I’ve learned over the years is to start my day by distancing myself from my phone during the last third of the night. More importantly, I make it a point to raise my hands in supplication to my Rabb before speaking with anyone.

Working in an acute care setting, specifically in Neuro/Stroke, can be challenging. To prepare myself for the day ahead, I ask my Rabb to grant me the best patients and family members. This morning moment is also an opportunity to seek the good of this life and the next.

Let’s not forget to include our loved ones – parents, children, spouses, and family members – in our supplications during this critical time. By doing so, we can live a more fulfilled life.

Take advantage of this precious morning period to express gratitude for what we have and what’s to come. May Allah grant us safety and steadfastness.

Preparing Our Hearts

The weaknesses of our hearts are immense, causing destruction and chaos in our lives. We’re consumed by distractions, constantly glued to our phones and the media. This addiction worsens daily, and it’s no exaggeration to say that our youth are heavily influenced by what they see in the media and often tempted to emulate it.

Our souls are being corrupted, and the media’s distractions have replaced the Quran, Adkhar, and tarbiyyah (nurturing) of our children.

As Ramadan approaches, let’s prepare our hearts for this blessed month. Let’s gather resources that will benefit us during and after Ramadan. Make a sincere intention to maximize the opportunities Ramadan presents.

It’s time to eliminate distractions and immerse ourselves in the spirit of Ramadan. Block out distractions, increase your Quran recitation, and observe Qiyamul Layl (night prayers) regularly.

Humble yourself, acknowledge your sins, and seek forgiveness from Allah, the Owner of our souls.

Let’s start preparing now and prepare well. May Allah grant us a blessed and transformative Ramadan.

As a Mother of Multiple Daughters

I’m still concerned about the recent incident. I’ll continue to raise awareness to prevent such occurrences in the future.

To all youngsters, remember:

Your Adkhar is extremely important. It’s your coat, and you need it at all times.

Avoid engaging in private chats with strangers, especially men, via inbox.

Refrain from sharing your phone number online unless necessary.

Refrain from uploading personal photos.

Prioritize your self-worth and dignity over material gain. Be content and don’t chase men for financial security.

May Allah protect and guide you all.

My Heartfelt Advice to Youngsters

I’m still disturbed by the shocking incident in Ilorin. As a word of caution, I urge you girls to avoid double dating. Once you’re committed to someone, stick with them unless circumstances change.

The recent tragedy highlights the dangers of entertaining multiple relationships. The deceased had a prospective husband, yet somehow, the perpetrator gained her trust and obtained her contact information. This disturbing incident has left me concerned.

Please, avoid accepting multiple proposals simultaneously. Commit to one person, and if that relationship doesn’t work out, then consider another. Your safety and well-being are paramount.

Important Advice for Our girls

Don’t consider a man without a legitimate source of income or whose income is suspicious.

Remember, it’s not all about money!

Avoid ‘Jalabi’ boys (those involved in questionable activities) and don’t let them deceive you into rituals.

Avoid visiting any man you meet online at his home – it can be extremely dangerous.

Stop chatting with strangers, especially men, on social media.

Your safety is paramount!

Involve your parents in your relationships; let them investigate and guide you.

Be transparent about any man you’re interested in, even Sunni.

Never think you can navigate marriage alone; involve your family and seek their counsel.

Ramadan

Ramadan Preparedness!

How are you preparing, brethren? We often read in a famous hadith that the companions were always ready when it comes to Ramadan preparedness. They lived by pristine Islam, taking every single day, minute, and opportunity seriously, as if it were their last moment on earth.

I’ve been asking myself, what am I giving up before the glorious month arrives? What will I desist from following or watching in the media? How will I maximize my time? Yes, preparedness should start now!

Ramadan preparedness refers to the physical, emotional, and spiritual preparations every Muslim should make before and during the blessed month of Ramadan. Here are some steps we can take:

1. Spiritual preparation: Reflect on past actions, seek forgiveness, and renew intentions to strengthen faith.

2. Physical preparation: Adjust sleep schedules, eat nutritious food, and stay hydrated to manage fasting.

3. Mental preparation: Manage stress, set realistic goals, and cultivate patience and self-discipline.

4. Practical preparation: Plan meals, shop for groceries, and adjust work or school schedules.

I’m currently working on getting the best out of the coming Ramadan. May Allah ease it for us. How about you? Let’s start preparing now. May Allah make us witness it in good faith and sound iman. Amin.

The Blessing Beside You!

One of the most profound discoveries I’ve made about marriage is that many of us often overlook the tremendous blessing that our spouses are in our lives. We tend to take this extraordinary gift for granted, failing to recognize its true value and significance. However, I urge you to shift your perspective and start seeing your spouse as the precious blessing that they are.

In times of financial strain and hardship, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and helpless. But remember, Allah has blessed you with a life partner, a companion to share your joys and sorrows, while many others are still searching for theirs. Let us not forget that the presence of a loving spouse is a treasure that should be cherished and appreciated every day.

It’s often said that we don’t truly appreciate what we have until we lose it. So, let us cultivate a sense of gratitude and thankfulness to Allah for the gift of our spouses. They are the ones who wipe away our tears, offer us words of comfort, and reassure us that everything will be alright.

In a world filled with uncertainty and challenges, it’s the love and reassurance from our spouses that we need to navigate life’s ups and downs. May Allah grant us the gift of everlasting joy and make our spouses a continuous source of blessing and strength in our lives. May we always cherish, appreciate, and honor the precious gift of our partners, and may our marriages be filled with love, harmony, and happiness.

The social media

The Social Media World!

Again, if Allah has blessed you with righteous children and spouses who refrain from posting nonsense on social media, consider it a rare blessing. The social media world grows crazier by the day, especially with some women exhibiting tons of craziness.

As a Muslim woman who strives to live and die modestly for the sake of her Lord, protecting her honor and dignity, I find many actions taken by women saddening. Although most of these women may not be religiously inclined, it still baffles me. I feel shy for them, and I think, maybe they should take everyone’s phone away, although that’s impossible.

The world is getting worse, and many are unaware of what lies beyond death and the grave. I can only continue to caution myself and my daughters and share a message here. Our Muslim brethren must avoid imitating these crazy acts, especially our youngsters. As the Hadith suggests, beware of entering “lizard holes.” Be cautious of what you imitate on social media. This life is only temporary enjoyment. May Allah grant us steadfastness.
