Patience in Worshipping Allah

Patience in Worshipping Allah

I remember the day of my final exam at the university some years back. That day was one of the extremely hottest days in the United States.  So, we were asked to move to another location for the exam and behold, everyone felt the heat within.

As a user of the face veil, l felt the heat deeper within – just like every other person in the room. It was so hurt that the AC couldn’t be more effective than it was. Imagine having exam in an extremely hot weather as such.  No one bothered to ask if it was too hot for me or not. This is because we were all feeling it. I recall a sister in the same room with me who took her small hijab off. l was very sad, but she was a struggling sister then. It is worth saying that while l will be rewarded for pleasing Allah, they won’t. Even though we were all in the same situation.

To enter paradise, you have a lot to sacrifice – you have a lot to be patient about. You indeed have a lot to put on the table for your Jannah. There is no easy path to enter paradise. It’s going to be a lot of dedication, perseverance and patience. You will know if you are doing enough, or doing little.

I have been constantly reminded to be more patient. And this is indeed crucial in worshipping and seeking the face of Allah. To be safe from hell, you must have worked your whole life pleasing Allah and seeking forgiveness for your enormous sins. May Allah forgive us and grant us a good ending.

Allah Put You in That Position for a Reason: It Isn’t Because You Are Better Than Them

A sister messaged me and expressed her mind toward me. Apparently, she wanted to speak with me and the only thing l did was a reply to her tasleem. Perhaps, l may be at work or may even be going through something myself. Many people like me can’t come online and start complaining about our plights. It will affect many people that l know without any trace of pride. So, at most times l handle things myself without complaining to anyone except Allah.

Sometimes, l feel overwhelmed and tired. I sometimes feel frustrated when l see some messages. I have for so many times cried out and run to my husband. Only for him to calm me and remind me of the title above.

I recall a day Abu Zayd Idris Ismail asked to speak with me, I think it took me about five days or even a week before l finally got the chance. Ask ‘Bilqis Yusuf’ if l have been able to speak with her. Even while she wanted to address something of great importance. We kept missing one another.

It has always not been intentional. I wouldn’t hurt anyone intentionally. But, by Allah,  l can’t answer everyone.  It’s not just possible. So, if you feel offended about your messages not being read or replied to, remember l am human. I can’t answer everyone. Always give excuses for your sister.

See, I don’t get angry over unreplied messages or calls.  What l do is to continue to remind the person and hopefully, he or she gets to me someday. It’s 12:30 am on Sunday, Jan 28th and I haven’t slept.  This is someone who had to park to sleep for 10 minutes on my way back from work.

But, l have promised to reply those that l asked to message  me on WhatsApp for our #RiseToEmpower program.  By Allah, l am only sacrificing my sleep for the sake of Allah. So, l ask you to always give excuses to your sister, as l will always give to you as well. May Allah ease our affairs. May He forgive us all.

Health: Be Thankful; It’s Uncommon Grace of Allah!

I am emotional today.

If you are a good person, good people will surround you when trial strikes, and when something as great as your health is put on the line.

My patient is blessed with two beautiful women, his wife and Mum. But he is very emotional. That is something l can’t stand. He is progressing well and l am happy for him.  Once he asked to walk around the unit to increase mobility and stability, he began to cry again, and l was feeling him. I was almost going to drop tears under the mask.

Indeed, if your trial isn’t on your health, be grateful.

May Allah grant us sound health.

Talha Ibn Ubaydullah!!

The only man who stood up to hug and embrace Ka’b Ibn Malik after days of boycott by Muslims was Talha. While K’ab walked into the Masjeed upon the news he heard that a verse was revealed based on his plight and his two companions for skipping to go to war with the Prophet, the only man who stood up to hug him was Talha when he was finally forgiven. Not that the rest doesn’t want to.

The companion, K’ab ibn Malik said in a hadith, “l can’t ever forget him, Talha” for what he did or something similar.  In this life, l have learned to appreciate people even when they do little.  I have learned to appreciate people who are there for me when no one will.  I have always appreciated those who couldn’t assist me, even when they wished to.

There is always someone who will leave a good imprint in your life. That person shouldn’t be forgotten. Learn to always be thankful no matter how small. Learn to always show mercy to others and practice loving for others what you love for yourself. I sometimes feel extremely exhausted, and very sad when people need help and l can’t give them at that moment. However, l do feel frustrated at some who want to only become a liability.  But in all, appreciate people and stand tall for people who need a shoulder to lean on.

Oh Women, Be Grateful!

Perhaps you do not see them. You do not see men who cry alone whilst their beards become soaked with tears. Most men will not tell you what they are going through in the hands of their wives. What baffles them most when asked is the ingrate attitude of their wives. “My wife always claims that l didn’t do enough without appreciating the little l did. l got blamed all the time despite the stress l go through every single day to put food on my family’s table,”  I say, may Allah reward your sacrifices. Do not be tired of doing your part and l pray Allah grants you enormous patience like that of Umar Ibn Khattab. Your success is granted bi’thiniLlaah!

Social Media!

One of the good things that happened to someone like us on Facebook is knowing fully the beauty in following the Sunnah of the Prophet (may the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him). Yes, l have met so many good people and l have learned a lot from them.

Depending on what brought you here, learn to have good companions and follow good people. That’s the only thing l can tell you right now. The impact of following good people can’t ever be stressed enough. The benefits are just so many. Ask yourself, who are my companions on this Facebook?  Who do l follow? Do they benefit me or not?

Create a good chapter for yourself and surround yourself with people who will benefit you in both worlds.

First Impression Matters the Most

I was floated to the ‘South Cardiac Unit’ the other day, and I took care of four patients. Three of whom were very ill.  Upon getting my report, I walked into the room and realized that one of my patients needed more attention. So, I quickly addressed her needs – from notifying the hospitalist on call; to getting her all the necessary medications alongside my assessments.

So, after stabilizing her, the other patient with chest pain was quickly attended to. CT scan and EKG were done, and metoprolol was administered as ordered. She became better. Alhamdulillah!

By Allah, I didn’t eat breakfast or lunch that day until I got home. I was extremely busy taking care of these patients of mine. What made me proud and gladdens my heart that day was the love and appreciation of the first patient I treated. She called me into her room approximately 14 minutes before the end of my shift and expressed her gratitude towards me. I hugged and kissed her forehead knowing fully that she appreciated everything that I did for her. I was surprised by her good heart because I wasn’t expecting gratitude from her. I did all l do without expecting a thank you!

She said, “Thank you so much. I feel so much better!” and she said further:  “Since you came in, in the morning, I knew that I was going to have a good day. I also told my family that I think the nurse I have today is going to be a good nurse and you proved that to me.” l was wowed and thank my LORD for making me who l am.

Life will continue to teach me lessons. I am grateful for knowing Islam and the Sunnah. May Allah always make us better than people think of us.

My First Night

My son had waited by the door to be the first to welcome us. Yes, l love the hug l got from him yesterday. It was a lovely one. I am sincerely grateful to Allah for a very safe return. I am happy that we landed safely at the airport, got our luggage, and finally returned to our place of residence.

We wouldn’t sleep without narrating our experiences. So much so that my son and my first daughter wished they had gone with us. I heard him saying, Oh “l want to go there too”. Yes, it was a night following many great nights in our lives. I wish l could stay longer in Medina and Makkah respectively. I have missed the great cities. I have missed the congregational prayers and the people of Madina and Makkah. I have missed many great things and my dream was all about these beautiful cities of Rasulullah. We had the best crew ever. I have also missed them.

Oh, Allah return us to your house. Accept all our prayers and forgive all our sins. May you visit the great cities too. Ya Rabbal ‘Aalameen!
