Let’s begin this week with a beautiful duʿāʾ that teaches us to turn to Allah, place our trust in Him, and ask Him to make our affairs easy.
Rabbi ishraḥ lī ṣadrī, wa yassir lī amrī, waḥlul ʿuqdatan min lisānī, yafqahū qawlī.
“My Lord expand for me my chest, and ease for me my task, and untie the knot from my tongue, so that they may understand my speech.” Qur’an 20:25–28.
Prophet Mūsā (عليه السلام) made this duʿāʾ when Allah gave him a difficult and tremendous mission. He knew that he could not accomplish it by his own strength alone, so he turned to Allah first.
What a beautiful lesson for us.
Before you begin a new week, a new responsibility, a difficult conversation, an important task, or something that makes your heart anxious—turn to Allah first. Ask Him to expand your heart, strengthen you, remove your fear, ease your affairs, and grant you the ability to communicate with wisdom and clarity. Sometimes, we don’t need the situation to change immediately. We need Allah to give us the strength, patience, clarity, and peace to face it.
Rabbi ishraḥ lī ṣadrī, wa yassir lī amrī. Carry this duʿāʾ with you throughout the week. Say it before you begin something difficult. Say it when your heart feels heavy. Say it when you don’t know how things will work out. Because when Allah makes a matter easy, no difficulty can stand in the way of His ease.
May Allah expand our chests, ease every difficult affair, strengthen our hearts, untie every difficulty in our speech, and allow our words and efforts to bring about goodness. May He open every good door, place sakīnah in our hearts, and grant us success in everything that pleases Him. Āmīn.
